International Infection Prevention Week begins on Sunday 17^th October. Keeping patients safe from infection is everyone’s responsibility; everyone needs to know the best ways to prevent infections including COVID-19. 

Professor Martin Cormican, HSE National Lead for Antibiotic Resistance says, “This year the theme is Make Your Intention Infection Prevention.  It’s essential to ensure that we as health care professionals are aware of the role infection prevention and control plays in protecting patient health and the health of our families”.

Hand Hygiene
It is also critical that we all clean our hands thoroughly to reduce the risk of infection spreading. We have seen how important hand hygiene is when responding to COVID-19 and trying to stop the spread of the virus. See hse.ie/handhygiene  for more information about good hand hygiene.
